In July 2013, Russell and Graham Henry set out on a kayak trip epic from the mouth of the Amazon River in Belém Brazil to Florida USA. Their journey of 7 months took them across the mouth up the Amazon, up the coast of the Guianas to Venezuela, and then island hopping across the Caribbean Sea. They faced isolated wilderness, massive channel crossings up to 150km in length, 23 different countries or territories, and a whole lot of unknown over every horizon. But that was the point; an adventure for the sake of adventure.  Now back in the Great White North, Graham is studying law at the University of Toronto with the goal of a career as an environmental lawyer defending the incredible natural places he has had the privilege of exploring.

Barbara and Gerard Courtin, part of our extended White Squall family, visited a long-time friend from Sudbury who had recently returned to live in Zimbabwe, the country of their birthplace.  Under an African Sky is partly a travelogue and partly an attempt to convey the complexities and beauty, both in terms of landscape and fauna, of a fascinating part of the Dark Continent.

Comments

I just wanted to say thank you for an excellent experience at White Squall at the weekend.  The location and facilities are spot on and I was impressed by all of the staff that I met.  You have an excellent team around you with a good mix of enthusiastic youth,  mixed with a good bit of real long term experience!
