urloak Canoe Club was founded in 1989 by the merger of the Mohawk and Oakville Canoe Clubs. The Oakville Canoe Club was founded in 1974 by former Olympian (1956) Bill Collins. In June 1974, the club, competing for the very first time, finished first in the Women's war Canoe race at the Boulevard Club. The rest is history!
