Trip Overview

*Includes all meals, equipment, boats, guiding and certification.
Please note – this rate is only possible due to the willingness of senior squall guides to lead the trip for a reduced rate. In turn, we are providing all boats, logistics and equipment at a reduction and we're all excited to offer this leadership and tripping opportunity.

We invite you to apply for this exciting co-ed youth expedition on Georgian Bay. Participants will be chosen based on ability and willingness to paddle and camp hard. You'll take on guided leadership challenges through an extended journey along Georgian Bay's northeast coast. National certification in paddling skill is available to successful candidates through Paddle Canada.

Arrive on the evening of Day 1 for orientation and an on-water skills review. Then pack up (double and triple checking all the gear!) and head up to Killarney.  For the next six days, we're on the Bay!  We'll travel along Georgian Bay's north shore finishing in Byng Inlet.  In between could be the trip of your life – you'll get out what you put in. Our goal is to provide constant opportunities to develop as a paddler and leader. No doubt there’ll be tonnes of laughter and good times to boot!  This youth programme is subsidized by White Squall to encourage teens to experience the fun and beauty of a Georgian Bay trip.

We will return to White Squall by late afternoon on the last day. As with all trips, we’re at the mercy of the weather and mother nature, so don’t be surprised if all of this changes.

Meeting Time

Please arrive for 8:30 am, we will start at 8:45 am sharp with an introductory meeting an overview of the trip. It’s best if parents can say goodbye at this point unless they have been asked to provide car transport to the put-in.

Staffing

The trip staff are co-ed and consist of a lead guide and an assistant guide, with an apprentice leader often coming along for training. The lead guide is trained in Advanced Wilderness First Aid and has advanced kayak and rescue skills along with formal White Squall guide training. Typically, they are certified national instructors with Paddle Canada and have many years of tripping and guiding experience. The assistant guide is likewise highly trained and is often in a co-leadership role with the lead. The apprentice has been chosen for his/her outdoor skills and is in a learning position.

Special Clothing or Equipment Needed

Please refer to the Pre-trip Information Package for a complete list of clothing to bring. We’ll also send you that list upon registration. Follow it carefully and if you have any questions, please get in touch.

For Youth Adventure, you’re welcome to bring a favourite game or musical instrument for camp but we specifically ask that you not bring electronic games or musical equipment (eg. IPODs or MP3s).
