Gullfest, Gull River, Ontario Whitewater Race |
GULLFEST, July 4-5 at the Gull River, Minden, Ontario, will host the first whitewater race event weekend of an exciting, new summer race series. Over 80 athletes from across Canada, United States and Europe will be competing. The series mission will combine all whitewater disciplines with a focus on slalom and paddling diversity to determine an over-all Male/Female Point winners will culminate in the first ever U23 (Under 23) Championship. The series events will feature slalom, downriver sprint, boatercross and freestyle in which points will be awarded to each athlete for their finishing position.

GULLFEST weekend will feature the following events :
Saturday, July 4 * 9:00 am. Lower Falls Slalom for Kayak, Decked Canoe and Open Canoe Classes, Male/Female for Cadets 13 years and under, Juniors 14-18 years and Tandem, Single Open Canoe for all ages. Two runs, best time determines race results. * 2:00 pm. Boatwerk Boater Cross – Male/Female Plastic Boat Classes – several heats, leading up to semi-final and final race * 8:00 pm. Heinz Poenn Appreciation Campfire – Roger Parson Centre
Sunday, July 5 * 9:00 am. Andrew Westlake Slalom for Kayak, Decked Canoe Classes, Male/Female for Juniors, Seniors and Masters * 3:00 pm. Freestyle in Earles Hole – Hosted by Billy Harris * 5:30 pm. Special Thai Dinner – Roger Parsons Centre * 7:00 pm. Awards – Special Evening Presentation courtesy of Eye in the Sky

Spectating at all whitewater Series events is FREE and very appreciated. The top TV feed at the past two Olympic Games in Athens and Beijing – whitewater slalom makes for exciting action on and off the water. Come support paddlers from across North America as they develop their talents and skills.
