Slush, Skate and Fly - Hoot and Blat |
Ever wonder what a worn out kayak guide does with his son late on a winter’s day – beneath a gunmetal sky in the face of gale force westerlies? No – I don’t imagine you do or much care, but just in case….. This past weekend we threw on skate skis on and headed out onto the Bay. With 60 km/h winds at our backs, we rocketed downwind on semi-frozen crust – and just when our speed was getting right fine, one of us would break through into slush, coming to a shuddering halt. Imagine icy cold water flooding into ski boots - it’s great! But those times were few, and for the most part it felt like we were flying, with not another soul to be seen. These times are magic and you have to catch ‘em because they don’t last long. We arrived home cold, wet and happy as kids to a hot bath and an even hotter supper. It just doesn’t get better ☺
Boat of the Moment
We’re putting the spotlight on one slightly used, slightly lonely Current Designs Vision 135. This puppy normally sells for $1399 new – and until the end of this month, I’m putting it on sale for $895. This is a great lake touring hull with solid initial stability and comes with hatches and rudder. Our previous BOM’s have bombed out of here, so if you’re looking for a really good price on a good lake boat, why there ya go.

The Squall Town Shop is blowing stuff out right now. In many cases, the prices are what we paid wholesale for them, so it’s a serious sale, trying to make a serious dent in our inventory.
