My tip this time is simply that if you’ve been thinking of doing something with us this summer in a paddling way – we hope you'll act on it. I know we run a business and our job is to get you on trips and to buy our boats and gear blah, blah, blah – but beyond that, I want you to know just how talented the staff are that join in each year. People like Gerard Courtin (ecology), David Pearson (geology), Doug Cunningham (astronomy), Doug Elsey and Thom Morrissey (photography), Theresa Gregory (yoga) and now Sharon MacKinnon (visual arts) – they are people at the top of their fields. They also happen to be paddlers who love to share their talents and are backed up by highly trained and motivated Squall Guides.

I sometimes wonder why we have to make the point, but in these days of information overload, maybe all of us just have to be reminded of what incredible opportunities there are for learning. Again, you might think this is self-serving (and in part you’re right) , but it’s interesting to note that our instructional programmes and trips don’t pay the bills – yet it's what we live for. We love paddling and want to share that with you. Being able to provide summer employment and training for a remarkable pool of outdoor guides and apprentices is something Kathy and I value a great deal. Our staff have spent years striving to be the best, and we’re very proud them. So I guess my tip is don't let life slip by - come join us for a trip of a lifetime! {rokintensedebate} |
