 Timmy's Tips Putting Your Boat to Bed OK, not now - but when November winds blow cold and you've had enough....your boat needs to be hung with straps/hangars positioned near to the bulkheads, off the floor and away from any snow load or dampness. Best to keep the hatches on so birds and wee little critters don't climb aboard for the winter. Spray everything with 303 as it acts as a winter protectant - especially any rubber parts. Make sure everything is dry inside before you batten down the hatches - nothing worse than the smell of old mould when you get her out for the springtime. More tips : Staying Warm; Staying Cold:
Staying Warm Wetsuits are great - but absolutely useless when they're wet and you're standing in the wind. Why? Heat loss from wind and evaporation. You would be happier and warmer stark naked. But - soon as you put on some kind of wind shell on top of the wetsuit, you're back in biscuit city. Staying Cold Ok, for the sunny days left this fall - keeping your food chilled on a stinking hot island means using an old desert trick. First - put the food up off the ground to allow air circulation (old sticks work) and then cover with a wet, absorbent pack cloth. As the wind blows - guess what - it gets pretty cold, and your baloney sandwiches will be saved!! Thanks for listening - like they say in Moscow, "gotta be rushin"...t {rokintensedebate}
