In this extended weekend course we combine a Level 1 Skills Certification with Basic Instructor to prepare you with the paddling skills and instructor capabilities to teach beginner paddlers. Ideal for staff working at a summer camp (hence the name) or really for anyone that wants to challenge a skills course and instructor certification at one time. We’ll provide lots of coaching to help improve your paddling and gently assist with your instruction skill set as well. This course involves a Level 1 skills assessment, it is expected that participants come to the course with the kayak experience of level 1 skills. (ORCKA also recognizes this PC instructor level once membership dues are paid.)

  • Intermediate Kayak Skills (including rescues) – this is a Level 1 Skills assessment, it is expected that participants come to the course with a good overview of Level 1 skills.
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Standard First-Aid and CPR.
