The Franklin Challenge! Sunday, June 24

Come join us in a circumnavigation of the prettiest island on Georgian Bay. A fundraiser for the Georgian Biosphere with registration limited to the first hundred paddlers. She ain’t a race sports fans, rather a tour and a mighty fine one at that. Registration opens up April 1 so call up your paddling buddies and start reading up on Franklin so you can tell tall tales as you paddle along. I think the best one is that the locals knew for many generations where his two ships could be found, but did we listen? We’ll post the booking details at whitesquall.com in March – hope you can come!

Gear Lab Carbon Greenland Paddles

We brought in a baker’s dozen before Christmas hoping they would be as good as we thought they oughta be. And by golly, they are! So, another boat-load is now winging its way over the ocean towards Cole Lake. Light, strong and well-balanced, much like I remember my youth… These carbon beauties were tested by Captain Jack on ice-filled, wave-washed Wawashkesh Lake, and he decided right then and there to fork out his pesatas and buy one. This is unusual let me tell you. Tune It Up for Summer

Looking for a fun weekend of kayak skills and island exploring? Check out Level 1 Kayak Skills June 9,10 or Aug. 11,12. (https://www.whitesquall.com/sheltered-waters-level-1/) We coach you through strokes, safety, map reading and more, all in the context of hands-on learning. And our staff are all yelling “pick me, pick me” to teach this cause it’s flipping fun! Give us a call and see if it’s a good fit for you.

Summer Camping, Paddling & Swimming

You can have it all, and great meals and sunsets too. Our sea kayak adventures amongst the islands of the Georgian Bay Coast are queued up and waiting for you at: https://www.whitesquall.com/multi-day-kayak-trips/ We go gently and give you time to explore and experience what we’ve grown up with here – the wildness of rock, pine and sparkling waters.

Boats Out Our Yin Yang

As Fred Eaglesmith once drily noted, “you seem to be a bit boat heavy man”. And so, it continues – we are on the backside of 400 canoes, kayaks and SUPs, all sitting here waiting for a brighter day. That day will come if you take one home, dat’s for sure. No guff return, best price guarantee and the best selection this side of our lake that you can paddle anytime. We really do try to make boat buying pain and guilt-free. Try amortizing for a few years the cost of fresh air, blue skies and a light chop on the water as you wander by pine-clad island in your very own boat – it’s priceless! https://www.whitesquall.com/boats/)

Take a Break for Spirit of the West, Alan Doyle & Canadian Magic

John Mann from Spirit of the West was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but his friends remind us all that music is still strong and free in his soul. This is one of those rare moments where you can only listen, sing and dance. Give yourself a timeout, it will make your day i promise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wY3DfQ2EUk

Not in the Spirit? Dat’s ok, just hit reply and type “not today, or tomorrow or really anytime tim” and we’ll turn off the music.

You’re ok with it? Please pass on our newsletter to others. It’s our best way of communicating – and if you sign one person up to our hoot list, tell us and we’ll put you in a draw for 3 pairs of Darn Tough Socks to be drawn just as soon as we get up from our winter’s nap. We’ll make darn sure they’ll be waiting for you on your next visit with no gaping holes cause they have a lifetime guarantee. thx, tim.
