Gentle Colours,Warm Waters Halcyon days are here as we say cheerio to summer and hello to the autumn sun. The best time to get out to paddle and camp before the winter winds whirl. |
Boats are Waiting… There are so many reasons to toss your laptop in the dustbin and head out on the water. Mostly it’s just giving yourself space and time to breathe, without the natterings of daily life burrowing ever deeper into your over-worked noggin. You can’t do better than water splashing all around to make you sit up and take notice of the things that immediately matter like staying upright, in tight and ready for the next wave coming at you. In case you think I’m into some new age backwoods therapy – don’t worry, just trying to convince you to paddle and know you can rent boats from us! When I was a teen, my dream was to be a fresh air mechanic. So far she’s working pretty good:) [email protected] |
Sale on Cole Lake! Used & new boats are now at the lowest prices of the year. Best thing is you can bring her back for a month after, and know we will match any lower price in Ontario. Throw in a quiet lake shop where you can actually paddle the darn thing – and bob’s yer uncle, fanny’s your aunt! A happy, safe and quiet way to find a boat buddy, always ready for an adventure. |
Another Day at the Office Taz and I teamed up with Georgian Bay Biosphere staff Theryn Corning, Kieran Walters and Angela Vander Eyken in late August to tackle outer island thunderboxes. And after a full-on day, what to our wandering eyes did appear? Perched on a rock…a smelly old armchair! Bio staff, with Taz on incident command, completed a high-risk extraction while I tried to keep the ship off the rocks. In all the years of picking up other people’s messes on our coast, can’t say we’ve seen an armchair before. ’tis a funny old world… |
The Paddling Centre stays open throughout the Thanksgiving weekend and carries on 7 days a week. If weather holds, we’ll stay open til near the end of October and by appointment through all the stormy months. Our flagship shop at 19 James in Parry Sound will keep candles burning year long with outdoor clothing that works, maps, funky snowshoes and a wild variety of outdoor gear and paddling stuff. Thanks for listening and may the warm fall breezes blow up your nose…t |
