Weekend Get-a-way Description
Escape to Parry Sound in the heart of the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experience its impressive beauty and unique story. Your weekend begins at the quaint Bayside Inn; with host Jeff Quathamer. Settle in Friday evening, and be welcomed with a screening of TVO’s Striking Balance, a fascinating documentary about the region and efforts to sustain its natural beauty.
Saturday, following a hearty breakfast, you’ll set out for a gently-paced, 3-hour kayak tour with experienced White Squall guides who will share tales of the town’s early days and highlight the bay’s geology & ecology. Your lunch stop destination is Glenn Burney Lodge lakeside patio, for a delicious meal, featuring local delicacies. Saturday evening board the MV Chippewa III and savour a delightful local-flavour infused meal, while cruising amongst unique summer cottages, spectacular granite bluffs and windswept islands.
Awaken Sunday, to a tasty breakfast and a meet-n-greet with Aleesha Mullen, local cycling enthusiast & Parry Sound Bikes founder. Get insights on their self-guided tour and customized options based on your interests, and then explore the area to your heart’s content.
This exclusive package, based out of Parry Sound, Ontario, takes place on a Fri-Sat weekend in September (dates coming soon!), 2017 for a per person price of $595 (double occupancy) or $695 (single occupancy). This “escape” is designed as a departure from your day to day duties and features tons of fresh air time, including 2-nights’ accommodation at the Bayside Inn, with breakfast, guided kayak tour with experienced guides, fully equipped tandem kayaks, paddling jackets and safety gear. Participants must be comfortable in the water and able to swim 50 metres wearing a lifejacket. A 3-course lunch at Glenn Burney Lodge lakeside patio, an evening dinner cruise on the M.V. Chippewa III, and finally a full day bike rental with gear & self-guided tour from Parry Sound Bikes.
