With the white quartzite hills of Killarney as a backdrop, we paddle eastwards along the rugged south coast of Philip Edward Island heading past Point Grondine – well known by the early voyageurs. We’ll explore the western outlets of the French River and head towards the Bustards – a grouping of spectacular pine-clad islands just off-shore.
Leaving the Bustards, we’ll wander through the archipelago of islands just north of historic Byng Inlet and paddle up the open Magnetewan River channel to our take out. This is a trip for strong paddlers ready to put in a few good days of paddling (4-6 hours on the water each day) with plenty of time still for swimming and exploring. The expanse and beauty of this coastline offers a lifetime of exploring by kayak. We hope you can come!
