The Wonder of Waterspouts Yay, it’s waterspout time! Cold, dry and fast winds from the north come hurling down the Bay, mixing with warm, humid surface air. Sparking off a whirling, wild tendril-like dance touching down on surface waters like a mini-tornado. Awesome to see, not so great to be underneath. Like a hot Friday night dance, soon over and the excitement disappears before your eyes. Best advice is to check weather forecasts and don’t take the Bay for granted. Like spying a rattlesnake, count yourself lucky. The privilege of being near but not so close that things get a bit too interesting.
