WASSUP with this HOOT?

Thanks to everyone who said don’t give up on Wassup. We heard you loud and clear. Our Hooter fiends felt the same, so we’ve made an executive decision to join the two at the hip! Hope that works and if not – guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles. On your nod we’ll white-out your e-mail faster than you can say ‘white-out my e-mail duckarse’. By the way, ‘white-out’ is a new word I just came up with for ‘targeted digital data exclusion’ Duckarse is old, but a good word donchathink?

Need You More Than Ever!

We’ll take donations of any sort for the Film Fest silent auction coming up soon. You can drop anything off at our Outdoor Store (19 James St. Parry Sound) and all proceeds will go straight to Global Medic – Canada’s conscience in international disaster relief. Thanks so much to all of you who have already answered the call!

Challenging Franklin – Sat. June 21

Ever been in a race that’s totally not a race, nor a walk in the park? Then this day is for you. We welcome anyone and everyone to join us in paddling round Franklin Island from picture-perfect Snug Harbour. Little far fer ya bud? No sweat, we have a shorter 8km route. Registration opens at whitesquall.com in April and you can get more info at: [email protected] All in support of cleaning up our islands through the Georgian Bay Biosphere Outer Isle Fund.

Incoming from Project CANOE

Do you know of a youth who would benefit from joining Project CANOE this summer? They are now accepting applications for 2020 canoe trips and some spots are free to encourage kids to get out! Programs intentionally designed to support youth in recognizing and building on their own unique strengths, forming meaningful social connections, and raising their perceived limits of what they are capable of. Tim’s note – this non-profit has been around a long time and does amazing work. You could help them send a kid on a canoe trip! Check it out: https://canoe.org/

RUNA – March 17 at Stockey Centre

St. Patty’s Day – an incredible concert from super group RUNA – Celtic-American Roots music continues to push the boundaries of Irish folk into the Americana and roots music formats. Interweaving haunting melodies and exuberant tunes of Ireland and Scotland with the lush harmonies and intoxicating rhythms of jazz, bluegrass, flamenco and blues. Could you ever ask for more?

Advanced and Basic Wilderness First Aid

Still have a few spots so don’t be shy – learn how to respond to stuff that happens when you’re out in the back of beyond – and I don’t mean the backhouse, although things can go wrong there too! Info at: whitesquall.com in the Learning section.

  • WAFA – April 25-28
  • WFA – May 9,10

Squall Boat Sales and Rentals

We still have a decent selection of boats and in the absence of some bright-eyed paddle person offering rentals/sales, we will continue to special order in boats and gear, just for you! We brought in 10 more Deltas to complement what we have as they are light, strong and Canadian! Just like me. To see boats get in touch with us ([email protected]) to set up an appointment. Don’t just show up as that will be like a Leaf taking a shot on a Zamboni driver – it just won’t work J . Regarding rentals, let us know what you need through e-mail and we’ll help you out as best we can. See what we have in the here – in the internet sphere: https://www.whitesquall.com/kayak-canoe-sup/

We Still Have a Pulse and a Smile Folks

Yup, the Squall Outdoor Store at 19 James Parry Sound is open 7 days a week all year round for a very long time. We have paddling gear along with maps, clothing, socks and the best local intel money can buy. Well it’s free really, but the staff might be more forthcoming if chocolate is provided.

Georgian Bay Adventures

Brian Beitz is starting up a new adventure company in town! He’s guided with the Squall as well as both in polar regions and the west coast. He’s excited to help folks discover the coast and islands of Georgian Bay with custom programs. You can check him out at: Georgian Bay Adventures – Home | Facebook
